Title: The Forest #1
The Forest#1 is a spatially responsive, temporal object based installation. Artist Rebecca Delange (Australia) will be constructing and reconfiguring her work at Berlin Weekly over a period of 2 weeks. Rebecca is using the forest a platform for exploration of ideas central to her practice, looking at it as an actual place and also as represented in history and fiction, as both a metaphor for the subconscious and a place of transformation that embodies the temporal and impermanent nature of life. Drawing from her own personal and psychological experiences of her time in Berlin and the space and situations she has experienced here, Rebecca aims to create an environment in the Forest #1 that evokes and articulates these experiences through abstract sculptural assemblages and spatial interventions. The work will be a dialogue between controlled making and uncontrolled action. Central to her practice is an investigation into processes of production to create work that does not merely represent these experiences superficially, but actually embodies them. Rebecca hopes to achieve this by engaging with temporal and transformative processes that will facilitate un hinged juxtapositions and encounters in the work. The Forest #1 will be continuously constructed, deconstructed and reconstructed to generate contradiction, opposition and tension, thus existing in a state of flux never finding a permanently still place of rest or definitive answer and resolution.
